- Goniometer
- Pencil or other stimulus like a popsicle stick
Assessment
- Sit directly in front of patient
- Move stimulus toward bridge of patient’s nose, beginning about 1 foot away
- “Keep both eyes on the pencil. Let me know when you beginning to see double”
- Measure that distance with goniometer (from space between eyes to the stimulus)
Score
- Record the number of inches at which a person saw double
- Near point of convergence is typically 2-3 inches
