This device assists clients to put their socks on if they cannot bend over to don their socks, as in hip precautions after hip surgery. The aid cups the foot and a sock is placed around the rounded cup, which is then slid upward over the foot using the ropes attached to either side. The sock aid comes in hard plastic versions and softer, more pliable versions. A reacher may be used to later remove the sock.
